Default Won't dry on a regular basis
Brand: Amana
Model Number: LEA30AW
Age: 5 - 10 years

This is a great forum. Just a few weeks ago you help me diagnose my broken washer. Well, the dryer is looking for some attention. It seems to dry sporadically. When it heats up, I get the impression that it will work just fine (the exhaust is hot). When I check on it later during the cycle, the drum is turning but there's no heat. Then I have to dry the entire load again. Kind of a pain in the butt.

I believe my model is equipped with a thermostat. Could this be it? Heating element?

The dryer is 8 years old. Our new house has a gas stub should I go with a new unit.

Thanks
Russ

Thanks Jim. Perhaps I should be more specific. It's not drying with much intensity. I'm running another load right now. After 10-12 minutes, it's still not very warm inside. A single load now takes 100-120 minutes to dry whereas befoe it would take less than 50-60 minutes.

Hi again, I thought I'd get this topic started again. I haven't made any progress on this in two months.

Any other suggestions? How can I test the element or thermostats?

Thanks
russ
