Default Wires keep melting on connections to heating element
Brand: Frigidaire
Model Number: DEIF-L-U
Age: More than 10 years

Dryer was operating without heat-wires found melted on connections to heater element.I replaced all terminal ends and now heat works but the new connections are melting again. I tested element and get some continuity to ground but am thinking that thermostat may be stuck closed and heating all the time-Any feedback is appreciated-Thanks,

you are correct, change operating thermostat and hi-limit thermostat, also cut back the burned wires as they lost their temper ,splice a new section of new wire of the same size or next size greater and install new connectors

I am having exactly the same problem, the wire melting on the element terminal that comes from the motor (black wire). Bettyboop, I will try your solution. Can you provide links to these parts so I can see them in the diagram? I think I know where the high limit thermostat is (right on the side of the heating element housing), but where in the chain is the operating thermostat that you also suggest replacing?

Also, I have a multimeter, but am not quite sure how to test the element to see if it should be replaced...am I testing for resistance? I'd rather not replace it if this one is perfectly fine.

Side note, this seems like a pretty dangerous design flaw for a wire to melt down in there were a little bit of flammable lint sometimes collects. Shouldn't the fuse or high limit kick out and prevent this from happening before the wire melts? Thanks for the great info!
