Is it a built in thermal protector that automatically stops the motor or is it tripping a breaker. The older a motor gets the hotter it runs but it could be an old worn breaker. Could the belt be too tight.

Over time the resistance gets higher on the windings. It becomes more of a heating element than a motor.
