Default Whirlpool Thermal Cutoff wiring
Brand: Whirlpool
Model Number: LEV5638AWO
Age: 5 - 10 years

I ordered a thermal cutoff kit for my dryer. I want to be sure of the wiring for the cutoff and the high limit thermostat.

For the thermal cutoff, there is a solid red wire and a red wire with a white stripe. My old cutout terminals were labeled S and S1, but the new terminals are not labeled. On the metal base of the new cutoff, there is a red stripe painted beside one terminal. Is this for the red wire or the striped wire?

For the thermostat, same color wires. One terminal of the thermostat is labeled X. Is this terminal for the red wire or the striped wire?

Thanks to anyone that can help.

The wires are labeled that way so you know where they came from. it doesn't matter when you have 2 wires and 2 places to put them so put the 2 wires on the thermal and the 2 near the hi-limit thermostat on it. There is no polarity with ac power
