Default Whirlpool hot outside/inside, not drying
Model Number: not sure
Age: More than 10 years

My 12-year-old dryer gets plenty hot inside that it should be drying clothes just fine, but it takes more than 2 hours for a normal load (not even with towels!). It also gets VERY hot on the top of the outside. The lint filter doesn't seem to be collecting as much lint as it used to when it was drying clothes better (about 45 minutes), but we've taken apart the back and there were no obstructions. It has also started making a noise like something being dragged across the floor. I can't afford a new one--HELP!

If there is all kinds of heat in the dryer then your vent is blocked.

Follow the vent hose to the outside.

The noise could be caused by a support roller that is worn out.

Can you please supply your model number?
