Default Whirlpool Duet Elect. Dryer will not turn on
Brand: Whirlpool
Model Number: GEW9200
Age: 5 - 10 years

I have a 6yr old whirlpool duet Elect dryer that just stopped working yesterday. The control panel seems to have no power, however the interior lights work. I have seen several threads that say the control panel may be shot, or the fuse in the control panel may have blown. Where do you find the fuse, and if it's not the fuse how do check to see that the control panel itself is def. the problem. Unfortunately my warranty expired 02/08. My son has leukemia so money is super tight, Im hoping someone can tell me how to fix it, that way my husband can do it instead of having to drag my clothes to the laundry mat...there's no way I can afford to pay parts and labor (I assume its costly to have it repaired by a professional.... Please tell me someone out there knows how to fix this...I have seen that it is a VERY common problem with this particular dryer
Thanks.

What you need to do is take the bottom panel off the dryer. But before that unplug it There will be three torx screws to take the panel off. Then if you look in the dryer on left, you kind off have to stick your head in there, and look hard left, and there will be 2 parts. The closet to you will not be the problem, the one to the left of it will be your problem. It is the thermal fuse. It will be held in by 2 1/4 in screws. The part # is 3390719. Tom

The fuse that is likely the problem is located on the blower housing.

If the fuse opens it will leave the dryer inoperative.

Most of the time this is cause by a blocked vent.

Here is a link to the breakdown of your dryer model GEW9200.

You will need the last three digit of your model number for a complete parts list.

Here is the fuse.
