Whirlpool dryer won't continue to run after start button released

Dryer wouldn't stay running once the start button was released. After searching on here I found a couple post replies that suggested replacing the motor. I just did that and still have the same problem.

Any other likely defective parts that can cause this?

There is a relay in the control panel that is likely causing your problem.
