Default Whirlpool dryer turns off in mid-cycle, heat works fine!
Brand: Whirlpool
Age: 5 - 10 years

my whirpool dryer shuts off in mid-cycle, the heat works fine. Right before it shuts off, it makes a rattleing noise, and a loud "moaning" noise.

Hi,

Sounds like you could have a bad motor.

There is a over load on the motor that will kill the power to the motor if the motor gets to hot. Once the motor cools off it will reset and run again.

Check that your drum rotates fairly easy by hand
Open it up and clean it out, also clean/check the venting
