Default Whirlpool dryer problem
Brand: Please select
Model Number: Don't know...
Age: 5 - 10 years

I have a Whirlpool gas dryer (about 6 years old). The heater turns on, but then goes off after a few minutes.

Might this be the thermal fuse? If so, do I get to it from the front or through the back? I tried the back, but I can't seen to get to it from there.

Thanks, in advance, for your help!

David

David, if the heat comes on, then the second time the dryer cycles for the heat to come on and it does not, replace the coils on the gas valve. That will do it. If you need me you can reach me at my web site at ApplianceEducator.com Tom

Default Thanks!

Tom,

Well...last week, we had a little heat, now, the heat never turns on... still the coils? or possibly something else.

are these repairs that are easy enough to me to do or should I call in a repair guy? when do I know if it's worth the trial and error of trying to fix the right part?

Thanks for your help - I never thought of trying to fix a dryer myself...and you're helping me to do so!

David

P.S. we're going out of town for the wekend, so I might not reply again until next week...

Default how do I replace coils

Tom,

Thanks for the help... I'd love to try replacing them, but don't know what they are... I'm searching for an online manual - the one they gaave with the tryer does not help w/ repairs (surprise, surprise)...

Any additional help you can give to help me know what I'm looking for would be appreciated. Also, do I pick up new coils at Lowes, Home Depot, etc.??

Also, I've checked out your website, but not sure how to contact you there...

Thanks,

Dave
