Default Whirlpool Dryer Makes a Loud Hum
Brand: Whirlpool
Model Number: LEN2000JQ!
Age: 5 - 10 years

Hello Friends,

I have just replaced the motor in my Whirlpool dryer. The windings in the former motor finally failed. Prior to failure, the motor chirped loudly (dry metal on metal sound) and hummed loudly. After installing the new motor, the unit continues to have a loud hum.

I am thinking that the drum bearings may be so worn that it is overworking the motor. It could also be (not likely) a frame vibration.

Have any of you experienced this same issue and if so, what was the resolve.

Thank You

Take the belt off and run the dryer on the air dry or fluff setting so the heat does not come on and see it the motor still hums.

Check the drum rollers to make sure they are turning freely.

Here is a link to your dryer model LEN2000JQ.

For a detailed breakdown of your dryer you will need the last digit of the model number.
