Question Where on earth is the heating element
Brand: Kenmore
Model Number: 96283100
Age: More than 10 years

I have a Kenmore Ultra Fabric Care and we need to replace the heating element. Problem is, I can find no where online where in the dryer the element is, nor how to get to it.

Help?

Pictures would be nice. Husband likes to pretend he's Tim the Toolman

What's welded? take out the top screw, un plug the wires, lift off heater box out.
this is done every day.

Ok, we're either completely crazy or the person who was last in the back in the dryer was:

Dryer back:

Top of dryer:

What are we doing wrong?

Ok you have the one that is not as common as the rest of the kenmores, sorry
remove the 2 phillips screws in the front of the control panel. Tip it back on its hinges, remove the 3 screws that hold the top, then slid the top forward & remove. Using a flat screwdriver slide it in the crack that holds the bottom panel, and when you push in on the clips, on each side, pull out on that side and the panel will hinge down, and remove it. Now the heating element is in the front, right, remove the 2 screws unplug the wires, and remove the element tube.
to get the element out, remove the bracket on front, remove 1 little screw next
to the ceramic connector, then pull the element out like a drawer,
look for broken coils.
While you're there clean the lint out, especially the motor. Your dryer is a series "90" or an Elete, I apoligse for the mix up on my part, Betty Boop

The panel just won't budge there, either. We've agreed to just go and buy a new dryer -- an energy saver model.

I really appreciate the help =) I think we're just not mechanically inclined this week (though I did fix the A/C by myself today :P )

The front panel. It just won't budge either. Nothing will move anywhere but up top and the element isn't there.

It's ok. I've been wanting a new washer/dryer anyways ^_^ Now I have a legitimate excuse. Besides, my husband got fed up with it, shredded the dryer hose, broke the shelf in the laundry room with his head my accident. He absolutely refused to touch the dryer in any way other than to slide it out the back door. =)
