Default Wheel Blower P/N PS383953/Squirrel Heaven
Brand: Estate
Model Number: TEDS68OE
Age: 5 - 10 years

Somehow a squirrel managed to crawl down the vent pipe of my dryer and when I turned the dryer on he stuck his head into the blower fan and broke off one of the blades of the fan. Now the dryer vibrates due to the fan being off balance, I supppose. The squirrel is history!.....The question I have, how difficult is it to replace the blower fan, Part Number PS383953? I have replaced heating elements, thermostats and drum belts, but never a blower fan. Does anyone know the procedure to replace the fan? Is the fan difficult to detach and replace? Thanks!

Scott

It is not that difficult.

The only trick is that the blower wheel is left hand thread and you have to hold the motor shaft to get it off.

Default Blower Wheel

Sheila,
Ok, and thanks for the info.. Also, do I have to take the front of the dryer off to get to the moter/wheel assembly? I don't think I can do it from the back of the dryer? I guess I will have to take out the drum to get to the motor?

Thanks,
Scott

Scott,

Yes you will have to take the drum out to get to the motor but you also have to take the lint chute off to get at the blower wheel.

Well, there wasn't much blood. Just the top of the squirrel's head missing....well, I am going to order the blower and try to install...

HELP! I had the same problem, except with a kitten. I have the part, but cannot get the old one off. It appears as if there might be a clip on the front. How do I remove this?
thanks
hannah

Default blower fan removal for dryer

Yes, the fan was on the motor very tight. I was unable to budge the fan at first and it seemed as though the fan would not come off. In fact, another fin broke off as I tried to remove the fan. So, I sprayed some penetrating oil where the fan screws on to the motor a waited a couple of minutes for it to penetrate. Then I held the fan still by inserting a screw driver between the fan blades and turned the motor shaft by using a wrench. I finally came loose! I did the job by myself but it would have been easier if I would have had another person to hold the fan while I turned the motor. (turn the fan to the right to remove) Keep trying. Don't forget that the fan screws off in the opposite direction! Good Luck.
