Default Water in Dryer
Brand: Kenmore
Model Number: Elite Smart Heat
Age: 1 - 4 years

Dryer is 1 1/2 years old - bought extended warranty from Sears because I don't know how to fix anything. BUT now that they are not living up to their end of the bargain, I need to learn how to fix the problem myself!

So, here's the deal. For the last several months, the dryer heats up, but the clothes take several cycles to dry. Normal size loads - not talking 25 towels a load - maybe 4 towels or 1 set of sheets - nothing crazy. Then last week look in the dryer and there's water in the drum and the door has lots of condensation on it. Sears comes out, won't open up the machine to check the filter, tells me it's that my a/c duct work in the basement isn't insulated and that's what the problem is.

1. Can that be true? I called my A/C guy he told me in all his years he's NEVER heard that and he's never insulated a basement before - an attic, but not basement. So, what do you think?

2. Now the dryer is dried out - no water. Is it safe to plug back in and see if it's working?

Thanks so much - really hope I can become a handy housewife!!!!
