Unhappy W-Westinghouse Dryer Making Loud Noises
Brand: White-Westinghouse
Model Number: DE400K
Age: More than 10 years

Hello to all! I'm new here and can use some help. I have an older model dryer and it's been pretty darn reliable over the years. Just a belt replacement I did about two years ago. Recently, it started to make loud noises while it was running. It was still working, but pretty darn loud. I thought I had solved the problem when I removed a decent amount of loose change from the fins inside the drum. I started the dryer and walked off proudly when it seemed to be running fine. And it did, for about 10 minutes and then my wife called me back to hear the same loud noises. The dryer is still working but these noises are loud - it sounds like something is stuck behind the drum and hitting off the metal drum when it spins. I just don't understand why it doesn't make the noise when you first start it up. It runs fine for a while and then...bam...the noise is back and won't quit. Any ideas or suggestions would be greatly appreciated.

Thanks,
Mark

Check in the blower housing for foreign items.

Check the rear bearing for wear.

Here is a link to your dryer model DE400K.
