Default Too Much Heat blowing fuse
Brand: Roper
Model Number: REX4635eW1
Age: More than 10 years

I replaced all of the thermostats as well as fuses for my dryer that has worked perfectly fine the past 5 years (that I bought used...yeh...ok i am cheap). I replaced them because the heater element stopped working.
Now my dryer will work - heats air and tumbles but after 10-15mins of running it blows a fuse...it seems that the heater is getting too hot.
I tried it on a "low heat" setting and it is still as hot as the "high heat" setting.

Could i have received a faulty cycling thermo? bad High limit thermo?

any thoughts?...the GF and I are dying with the mildew clothes!

I have taken apart the blower area to make sure there are no obstructions and vaccummed everything out. It was fine.

any help is much appreciated....i have to pay for a wedding in 2 months and really can't afford to buy a new dryer.

Pull heating element and check for a shorted wire. If ok, you will need a meter to check things.

Remove vent hose from the wall, and do a load of clothes. if it works better, the thru-wall vent is cloged, and the heat is backing up into the dryer, blowing the fuses. Bettyboop

will try...
but i think i have tried running it with no hose it still cuts out...
plus the tempature of the low setting is the same as the high setting...
ie...the low setting is really hot!

I would say that the next step is labor intensive, but requires no parts expenditure. I had the same problem. My dryer would not turn on, so I replaced the high temp thermostat as well as the fuse. What is probably turning off your dryer is possible lint buildup. Have you taken apart the front door (if the filter is located there) and vacuumed it out? Also, just as important, you need to clean the duct work from the exit of the dryer to where it exhausts outside the house. I found quite a bit of lint in the door (none at all from the fan to the back of the machine, oddly enough). But I found an obstruction about 2 feet from where everything exits the house. Luckily for me, all the ductwork is exposed in the basement and I can take it all apart and vacuum it out. This is what I would do next.

Unfortunately, it seems my air circulation fan has died on mine and will cost $120 just for the part. Time for a new dryer for me.

If i am testing the Heater with a meter what should my readings be 1 - infinity?

Thanks for everyone's comments.
I have cleaned the vent, filter, filter chamber pretty much everything, and ran it without the outside air attachment and still it blows fuses.

And since i have replaced pretty much everything and assuming that the new parts ran correctly...i am going to assume it is the heater element.
although i didn't see any shorts before...but who knows.

(still cheaper than buying a new or used dryer)

check the front and rear seals on the drum. If they are worn the air will be pulled through the seals instead of the burner box. If the element is getting hot it is working and ok leave it alone

nope seals are fine...air is being sucked through element...
has to be something with the element high limit thermo or cycling thermo...
anyone know how to test an element to see if it is shorting? (without having an electrical engineering degree)
