Default Timer will not advance in auto modes
Brand: General Electric
Model Number: dbsr463eg0ww
Age: 1 - 4 years

Hello: I am new to this repair forums and may not know how to present a problem. I posted a problem of my GE dryer not advancing to the OFF position in the two automatic modes. The time drying mode works find and does advance to OFF after its alloted time. I have never received any hits on this problem and I was wondering if I am not posting correctly, or its just one of those times when on one has had this problem, or has viewed the posft. Thanks Paul

No you are posting fine. It could be the operating thermostat, or there is a resister on the timer, that it could be, or a clogged vent to the outside, or in the blower housing, on the front. Tom ApplianceEducator.com

Thanks for the reply. One more question. How do you get the front panel off the GE dryer. I notice two screws at the top of the door that seem to indicate this would fasten the front of the dryer to the Top of the dryer. Is that all that holds it?

That is how you get the top off, and then look inside the top of the front on each side for a screw to take off. Tom ApplianceEducator.com

Pull your vent tube off the back first, run the dryer in Auto and see if it advances before tearing into it.
