Default Timer stopped now no heat
Brand: Roper
Model Number: RGS7646KQ2
Age: 5 - 10 years

I have a roper gas dryer. Recently the when the timer was on the auto sense cycle it would not move bu the drtyer would still heat. The timer would move while on other cycles. Now the dryer will not heat on any cycle. I recently disconnected the went to determine if it was blocked. After running the dryer for a few minutes I noticed a faint gas smell. I have checked the the thermal fuse and it appears to be good.

Have you checked the ignitor? The ignitor could be weak, and not opening the valve all the way, and that could be why you smell gas. The thermal fuse that you speak of, is the the white one in the back of the dryer, where the thermostat is? The best thing to do is unplug the dryer, and take the back off, and take the 2 wires off of the thermal fuse, and put a little tape on it, so it does not hit metal, and then plug it in and see if it works. If it does, replace the thermal fuse. If it does not, replace the ignitor. You also could have a thermostat, or a sensor issue, before this problem occured.
