Unhappy Timer and heating element not working after replacing drum beating kit
Brand: General Electric
Model Number: DWLR473ETOWW
Age: More than 10 years

I replaced the rear drum bearing kit, and put everything back together. I ran it for a few moments and opened the door. There was a strong smell, possibly electric (more like the smell of turning on a furnace for the first time of the winter). I took off the cover and checked all of the leads and made sure that they were on the element tightly. A few were a little loose. I pushed those down and put everything back together. I ran it for a few minutes and everything seemed ok. My wife put a load of clothes in the dryer and we thought that everything was going well. I checked the load more than 30 minutes later and the clothes were damp and cold. The timer-setting was still on more dry and had not moved from the original position.

I thought that I had all of the problems fixed. The horrible noise from the bad bearing was fixed and now this. Please help me before my wife ends my misery!

There is a real good posibility that you broke the element, putting the tub back in. You can reach me at my website at ApplianceEducator.com Tom
