Default Timer and heat out, but it runs
Brand: Maytag
Model Number: DE410
Age: 5 - 10 years

My timer hasn't worked for about a year now and I've just been dealing without it. Occasionally dryer gets extremely hot though (much hotter than it should be able to get), and a couple times it has stopped heating all together, but it will still tumble when that happens. Last time we thought the heating element was out so we took the dryer apart and the coil was fine so we put it back together and it started working fine again. It worked for a couple weeks and now dryer won't heat again. Could it just be the thermal fuse maybe or is it something connected to the timer that's making it not work right? Timer won't work on any setting (auto or timed), but you can hear the timer ticking like it's running. There was a lot of lint, but we got that all cleaned out a couple weeks ago. Any suggestions? I don't know anything about appliance repair, but if I give him somewhere to start my fiance can work on it.

It could very well be your door switch. Did you check it? You can reach me at my web site at ApplianceEducator.com Tom

Would it still be able to run if it was the door switch? It still tumbles, just doesn't get hot. Thanks!

No if it runs, and does not heat, it could be a breaker partially tripped, or a element out, or the high limit thermostat. Tom ApplianceEducator.com
