Timer dosen't turn, heat is on

I have this older maytag gas dryer, the timer does not turn, all else is working.
I replaced the timer, no change.
This unit has 2 auto cycles and on fluff dry cycle.

Your operating thermostat is faulty.

This should be serviced by a qualified gas technician.
