Default Timer does not advance in Auto mode(s)
Brand: Please select
Model Number: GE DPXQ473ET6WW
Age: 5 - 10 years

Hi thanks in advance.

I have hot air in all modes

The Timer works fine in Timed dry

The Timer DOES NOT advance in Automatic Cotton or Automatic Perm Press, it does dry clothes, but dryer will not shut off automatically.

I understand from reading previous posts that I probably need the thermostat sensor, but I cannot seem to find it on any schematics or locate where it might be installed.

Can someone advise me on which part I need and point me to a schematic to locate it..

thanks

Jon

The thermostat that you want to replace is locate on the blower housing.

Here is a link to your dryer model DPXQ473ET6WW.

Shelia,

thanks a lot.. I always like to take things apart to make sure I can do it.. i.e. quit if it looks to daunting.. I disassembled the dryer, cleaned the blower fan blades completely as they were stuffed with lint.. cleaned insides very well and located the thermostat.. put the dryer back together.. Since the buildup was so heavy in the blower blades, I decided to see if auto modes worked. They do now.. it seems the lint caked into the blades was insulating the thermostat and kept it from doing its job.. so.. I learned that dryers are easy to take apart AND I fixed it w/o having to purchase anything.
