Default Which thermostat needs changing?
Brand: Whirlpool
Model Number: le5200xt
Age: More than 10 years

My old dependable dryer - with a new heating element - and with the vents all checked and cleans does not heat up continuously and is running cooler than usual so I'm pretty sure I need a new thermostat- but which one as I have 2 according to the Whirlpool customer service line- a "thermostat high limit" and a "thermostat operating". which ine to change?

It is likely the operating thermostat that needs to be replaced.

The high limit thermostat is there to cut the heater off if it over heats.

The operating thermostat is for the operating temperature.

Here is a link to your dryer model le5200xt.

For a more detail parts list you will need the last two digit of your model number.
