The dryer is 2 1/2 years old. It began running really hot, no matter what cycle you had it set on. We cleaned all the vents to make sure there was nothing clogging the air flow. Plugged it back in and put a load of wet clothing in to dry and just after 5-10 minutes I noticed smoke in the house and immediately unplugged from the electric outlet. We were told it probably was the heating element gone bad. So we replaced the heating element only to find that it stills is over heating. I discovered a kitchen towel that had been dried in the extreme heat and notice a scorched area on the towel. It would be so hot that you could not touch the clothes until they had cooled down a little. Can you give me some ideas as to what might be the problem?

You have serious problems, I'm surprised your thermal fuze didn't blow. Pull heating element out and verify no short to ground, if ok call a pro.
