Unhappy Frigidaire FDE336RES2

I have the Frigidaire model FDE336RES2. The past few weeks it has been taking forever to dry the clothes. I have tried everything I can find online. Here is all that I have done:

I first checked to make sure the vent was not clogged. It had some lent in it but not too much. I then unhooked it from the wall after cleaning it all out and let it try a load.

After that I held down the door button and turned it on. I watched the coil heat up and get red hot which it stayed for approximately 10 seconds when I think I heard a click and it turned off and just kept tumbling.

I checked and I do have 240 going to the dryer.

I got the wiring diagram and ohmed everything out. The control thermostat appears to all ohm out correctly with zero and then 28 on the one side just like the diagram shows.

I ohmed out the coil and got around a 12.0

I ohmed out the high limit thermostat and it was also zero.

The fan does turn when the barrel turns so i know air is circulating.

I took the timer out and it all seemed to ohm out correct.

Can anyone please tell me what else there could be wrong? Do all of these seem correct? I really don't want to have to buy another dryer.

I think that after you've checked out your venting, thermostats, and coils and it still won't heat much I'd start looking elsewhere.

I have a unit that will only heat to 125 and takes three times as long to dry.

I've notice that my unit has a selector switch that interfaces with a cpu board. That's where I'm headed next.

Default Dryer won't dry

Jason,

My dryer is about 10 years old. It does not have any fancy computer stuff, just all the mechanical parts and such. I thought it would be easy to fix but have found otherwise.

Amprice frigidare: One thing you did wrong, you cannot do a heater test with the door open!!! The thermostat will turn off the heat to the coil in 10 seconds, to stop you from burning out the coil. The door has to be closed so out side is drawn thru the heat element them thru the drum to the filter then out the exaust. Opening the door stops cool from entering element and elememt heads for meltdown. The only way I do a test, is to put a thermometer in the tail pipe, and watch the temp go to 150 then click and go down to 110-125 and click and go to 150 again, that's called a heat cycle.(normal operation)

Okay, I tried it with a load and after cleaning everything out since I took the dryer completely apart it appears to be working a little better. Thanks for all the help!

How does the unit discharge the heat? Through the roof or through a wall?
