Dryer stopped during a drying cycle. I could smell a slight odor that reminded me of the smell you get when something electrical overheats. The heat inside the drum seemed to be a little hotter than usually. The timer works. I checked the dryer for lint buildup but everything seemed to be clear. Any thoughts on which part may have failed. Thanks.

Yes, you need a thermal fuse Kit. The part # is LA1053. If you pop the top of the dryer, and look on the right side of the heater, you will see 2 white wires going down to the right of it. That,s the thermal fuse. In the kit, there will be the thermostat, that is on top of the element. Replace it too. Oh, put a putty knife under the top of the dryer on the right, and pop up the top , and then do the same on the left. That is how you get the top up. Anyway, once you do all that, I want you to take the front of the dryer off, because you will find a huge wad of lint in the blower housing. Once the top is up, look on the inside of the front panel on the right, and you will see a 1/4 inch screw take it out, and there will be one on the left too, take it out, and pull the front towards you and up, and it will come off. Look down and check out all that lint. Put it all back together, and then I will send you my bill. LOL If you need me, you can reach me at my website at ApplianceEducator.com Tom
