The squeaking is likely the idler pulley. A high temperature lubricant should stop the noise.

Thank you Sheila. How do I get to the idler pulley? Where can I get the high temp. lube?

Thanks again,
Cathy

Hi, I was trying to find info on my kenmore dryer with the same problem as yours. It drives us so crazy!!! I saw the post about the pully assembly. If you can find the books that came with your dryer, there should be a parts book that shows the break-down of all the parts, right down to the screws. The beauty of buying a Kenmore is that they give you the that detailed diagram! Hope you have some luck with your repair.

When mine was squeaking and squealing I replaced the belt, the drum glides and I forget the name of it but it is the plastic U shaped part that holds the drum in alignment.

Thanks sandmike123! My problem is that the dryer is attached to the top of the washer, and it makes it a pain to work on. I'll investigate further as to how I can get to the drum to replace the glides. Also, thanks for the tip on the U shaped thing.

I can get to it by taking the top off the dryer, but i'm not sure if I have to expose the whole drum in order to replace the glides. Do you think I can do it by spinning the drum manually as I work on each section?
