Unhappy Squeaks and brown marks
Brand: Kenmore
Model Number: 417.69052990
Age: 5 - 10 years

Hello,
I have an 8-year old Kenmore that's been squeaking for about 2 months. It's not consistent though... it will start really faint and then will get so loud, it's unbearable. A couple minutes of that, and it dies down.

Also, it just started leaving brown marks on clothes. I noticed today that one of my shirt collars must have been caught really bad because it's REALLY brown and all stretched.

I'm a novice at repairing stuff, so if you have any ideas or tips, please don't get too technical!

I appreciate any help I can get!

You need a felt (upper and lower) Goes in the front of the drum

Thanks, I will try that! Luckily, I kept the parts manual so it shouldn't be too complicated to figure it out.

Well, I've looked through the Repair Parts List and there is no mention of "felt". I even went to the Sears parts website and there's none for the model I have.

Could it be under a different name? The only thing I saw that goes at the top and bottom of the drum is (for the top) a "Glide-Drum" and (for the bottom) a "Seal-basket lower".

Help!

Some dryers have nylon pads that the drum rides on. These eventually wear out and then it's metal against metal. My own experience is when that happens it's time to get a new dryer.
