Hi. I'll try to help, however, this could be kind of hard over the internet. On dryers that spring will usually be connected from the idler arm to the base of the dryer.

Sometimes the factory will put a tiny plastic bushing in a small hole on the idler arm where that spring connects. Then the other end goes to the base of the machine so when you slip the belt on the idler the spring will have some tension on it. The hole on the base of the dryer may not be a flat hole, but sort of raised from the metal base so the spring can hook in fairly easy.
