Default Speed Queen Dryer won't shut off
Brand: Speed Queen
Model Number: NE4713L
Age: More than 10 years

I have a Speed Queen dryer, Marathon Model, Limited Edition, that is about 20 years old. It runs great except that 9 times out of 10 it will not shut itself off. So I have to babysit it so that I remember to turn it off when the clothes are dry. If I don't shut it off, it will run forever. It appears that the dial does not advance to the point where it will shut off. But then other times the dial will advance and it will shut off. So I can never leave it, because I never know if it will shut off or not. If anyone has a solution, please let me know. Thanks.

Below are parts for a NE4713
Maytag NE4713 Parts List

Unfortunately I could not find a wiring diagram
I would check that it does this on a number of different cycle types (auto and timed dry) and different temperature settings.

If it still does not advance then the odds are pretty good that the timer is shot.

One way to be sure would be to put a meter across the timer motor while running.
If it is getting 120 volts and not advancing, you know it is shot.
