Default Shuts off-won't start back until it decides to
Brand: General Electric
Model Number: DDE5300BALWH
Age: 5 - 10 years

During the timed dry cycle my dryer will shut down at any given moment. It won't start back until it decides to, it could be 10 minutes or an hour and a half. I have taken it apart and cleaned the lint out. I still am having this problem. How do I rule out if it is the start switch, overheating, motor dying? Any suggestions/tips are greatly appreciated.

It sounds like the motor must be over heating.

The start switch is just a momentary contact switch that is used to start the dryer after that it does not have anything to do with the dryer running.

It could be the bearing in the motor that is seizing up and that is way it does it different times.

When the dryer stops see if you can turn the motor shaft.

Here is a link to your dryer model DDE5300BALWH.
