Default Roper whirlwind dryer wont heat
Brand: Roper
Model Number: REX5634PX0
Age: 1 - 4 years

My roper whirlwind dryer stopped heating last night and the time knob wont rotate either. Everything was fine last night, i took a load out and put another in. When i got home from work today the dryer was still running. The knob had stopped halfway and the the load was still rotating but they were cold, dry but cold. I put antoher load in thinking to see if it would work fine. But it didnt put off any heat and the knob didnt move at all this time. But the load still spun. What can i do to fix it and whats the extimated cost?

Unplug the dryer, and take the back off. On the right side, will be the element. If you have a volt/ohm meter, ohm out the heater, and see if you have continuity, if not replace it. If so, up top on the element housing is the thermal fuse, take the 2 wires off of it, and ohm it out. If you get a reading it is good, if not, replace it. But first go out side to your breaker box, and flip your dryer breaker off and on a couple of times, and then check the dryer, and see if it heats. Tom ApplianceEducator.com
