Default Roper Turning off after 5 mins
Model Number: RES7646KQ2
Age: 1 - 4 years

Have a Roper that just started shutting off on us after about 5 mins of drying. Took apart and cleaned the back of lint and double checked everything and looks good, but trying to find the thermostat or some skematic of the dryer, so it can be taken apart and the proper part purchased to fix this problem.

Anyone have a skematic of the dryer or parts list of this thing or both?

It would be much appreciated.

The schematic should be on the back of the dryer if not check in the control panel.

Take the belt off the motor and make sure the motor is turning freely.

Here is a link to your dryer model RES7646KQ2.

Thank you for the information. Replaced both Thermostats and Therm Cut off, but still has an issue after running for about 15-20mins. Checked the exhaust and it is running fine. Wondering if the 1m-2M is not working properly. Going to have some electrical testing to do this weekend.

When the dryer stops, can you restart it right away?

No, it will not restart. It turns just fine and the heating element comes on, but once the start button is released it turns back off. If you wait an hour or so then it will run for another 15-20 minutes.

Sounds like a motor going sour. Check motor for bearing problems.
You can apply 115 volts directly to motor, usually pins 4&5, check schematic.
If motor now cuts out, you have confirmed a bad motor.
