I just replaced the dryer belt to my 2 1/2 year old Roper because the drum wouldn't turn. I am almost certain I have the belt installed properly, but the drum still won't turn when powered on. Also, the drum is very hard to turn by hand with the belt on.

However, the dryer still sounds normal and heats up fine. I keep reading about a belt break switch but I do not know where that is located or how to reset it, or if it is even something that needs reset. Any suggestions? -A.G.

There is no belt break switch on your roper, they were put on front mount dryer motors, yours is a rear motor, if your drum doesn't turn easily, take the front off, and make sure the rollers are in their tracks on the drum. Also the front felt seal can be wadded up and jammed, check the plastic ring that rides on the drum front opening, make sure it snaps all- the-way, in the drum.Make sure the belt isn't off the isler pulley and jammed
