Default Replacing Timer, wires do not match up
Brand: Whirlpool
Model Number: LGR6848AWO
Age: 5 - 10 years

I ordered a new timer through Part select .com for my Whirlpool Dryer part number PS345627 it is model M460-G. The timer matches up 99% however the old timer has an additional terminal on the terminal labeled "T". It is connect to terminal labeled "GY" by a tan colored jumper wire. Since the new timer does not have the additional terminal at "T" I did I not use the tan jumper cable. That leaves the brass colored "GY" terminal unconnected.

Is this correct or do I need to use the jumper cable elsewhere? Please advise

Model 460g is a series of timers, the part # are for the different applications there
are, weather it be a whirlpool, frigidare ect. some times a timer will fit 2 or 3 different dryers with a simple jumper wire. Some don't need the wire. Did you recieve any instructions with the timer?Bettyboop

bettyboop, thanks for the reply. No instructions came with the timer and I did realize that the timer would be used with different brands of dryers by utilizing different wiring configurations. What threw me is that compared with theoriginal timer there is a terminal missing. I am going to try it by just leaving the jumper wire off and the existing terminal free.
