Question Replaced motor, but dryer still doesn't stay on or heat
Brand: Kenmore
Model Number: 110.063942101
Age: 1 - 4 years

Our dryer appeared to be operating only in the start mode (we had to hold the start buttom down and didn't get any heat. also it would operate in the fluff mode without the start button depressed). I bought a new motor and managed to install it. However, it didn't solve the problem and if I hold the start button down, it clicks as if at the end of the drying cycle. Heat is still not being produced either. Note, the new and old motor looked identical. Both had a motor switch plug, so wiring wasn't a challenge. I'm hoping I missed something on the install but perhaps it didn't need a new motor afterall. Any help would be appreciated.

Default Start Winding

The start button does not control the start winding
Power is applied to both the start and run windings
Once the motor starts to turn the start winding is switched off automatically
Usually by a mechanical mechanism which is part of the motor assembly
It is only required to overcome the inertia of the stopped system
The motor then runs on the run winding
Sorry cannot find a wiring diagram of this dryer but it does sound like a timer problem
