Default Overheating??
Brand: Kenmore
Model Number: 110.67832791
Age: More than 10 years

When I touch the outside of the dryer, it is extremely hot. Then I open the door and see a glowing coming from the area that the box heater is located. No matter if the heat is set to low or high it is hot to the touch. The clothes come out and are hard to handle because they feel like they are on fire. I have replaced the exhaust venting from the plastic to the metel kind, cleaned the lint trap, and finally replaced the thermostat (all in the last 2 months) and it is still happening. Could this be a problem with the heating element or box heater?

No, I don't think the element is shorted out. If it were it would come on even if the dryer was not on. So back at the ranch. LOL csnider, what you most likely have is a clogged vent to the out side of the house. If you take the vent hose off at the wall, and leave it on at the dryer, and keep the dryer about 2 feet from the wall, and run a full cycle with the vent being hooked at the wall. If you don't want any lint in the house, put a panty hose on the end of the vent hose that went on the wall, and run it. You have to do this test, before we start recommending parts. This could be your only problem. It usually is. If you need me you can reach me at my web site at ApplianceEducator.com Tom

Default overheating

How would you correct it, if it was shorting out? I've changed the vent and today it kicked on after making a clicking noise while I was removing some clothes.

What exactly does
"today it kicked on after making a clicking noise while I was removing some clothes" mean.
The door was open?
The motor started?
The heater came on?

Quite often shorting to the case is not always there, sometimes you heat up the element. It then either sags or the break moves and touches the case. Remove the heater and visually inspect it.
