Default Need Help Removing Motor
Brand: Whirlpool
Model Number: LEQ9858PW0
Age: 1 - 4 years

My dryer model # is LEQ9858PW0

Motor has part # 8538262
Motor has model # S58NXMZK6925

Went to replace blower wheel and the shaft broke off in wheel so now need to replace the whole darn motor. Disconnected wires ok - they are all in one housing - but cannot for the life of me figure out how to get the motor out. Question - is the metal carriage a permanent part of the dryer and does the motor come out of that? OR do I take out the whole thing, carriage and all? I read on the site listed below that there should be clips that pop off (???) or spring clamps but I am completely stuck and so is this motor. Please advise, much appreciated.

I went to a site and found this pic which looks similiar to my motor, although my wires are attached to the side in one nice plastic housing.. This is where I read about the green clips. Hope this helps get me unstuck!

There are two clamps and they may not be green they may be dark gray.

They go over the top of the bearings and hook on to the carriage that is welded to the base of the dryer.

Here is a picture of the clamp.

At the curled end of the clamp place a flat blade screwdriver in and press down while pushing outward at the same time and the clamp will pop off.

Here is a link to your dryer model LEQ9858PW0.
