Default Need help with dryer timmer - replaced once already
Brand: Maytag
Model Number: pye2300ayw
Age: 5 - 10 years

The timer on my Maytag Performs #pye2300ayw was not advancing through the cycles (i.e. it would stay and what ever setting it was placed on and never turn off). I figured the timer was bad, so I ordered a new timer and installed it. The timer worked for one cycle, and now I am having the same issue again. Any ideas?

Check and see if the timer will advance on the timed dry setting, which is not an automatic dry. If so you could either have a vent problem, where the air is not going outside well, or a sensor, or a thermostat. If you need me you can reach me at my web site at ApplianceEducator.com Tom

Here are your parts and a wiring digram
Maytag PYE2300AYW

As you can see the timer gets power from half the line in (120 volts) through timer contacts TM/N in timed dry

In auto cycles it gets power from the 220 volt heater voltage when the heater is off through the resistor (which drops the voltage to 120 volts) and timer contacts TM/A.

So best bets are the resistor is open or the contacts are shot
