Unhappy Need Help with BOSCH dryer
Brand: Other
Model Number: wtmc3500 uc/01
Age: 1 - 4 years

Need some do it your self help advice. Im a newby here, I am a pretty good tech on stuff, but appliances are tricky . I have this bosch dryer just aquired, and was working ok until I took the back off to clean out the back of the drum which had developed a knocking sound. Cleaned out some sand and gravel that had accumulated inside the seal at the rear of the drum. Started and tested with the back off, sounded pretty good. Then all of a sudden, I cant start any longer after putting back together, and am getting the lint filter light coming on in all modes, have rebooted, same malfunction still. Of course the filters clean as a whistle. Anyone know what caused the problem or how to fix it? Im guessing a sensor malfunction?? Its only 1 and a half years old. Serial number is 8541008358102397
Im pretty desperate to fix it as I just spent $500 on it and now I have a pos. Please help if you can. Thank you!! Mark

Hi. I'm probably going to be off on this since I've never worked with any Bosch equipment, but I'll give it a go.

Have you gone back through the dryer and double checked any and all connections that you may have disconnected or possibly bumped into when putting it all back together. I have done this many times working on equipment that I was not real familiar with. I'll pay attention to whether I am putting some part on and not realize that I forgot some other connection or knocked it off accidentally. In fact, I would go back and check any connectors that have to do with the lint screen circuit.

Hi, jmchenry! Thanks for the encouraging support. I did some inquiry today and found out from my local parts dealer that there is a thermostat on the blower housing (little black sensor where the heat makes a 45degree turn up into the back of the dryer drum, and they noted that this part commonly goes out with the same result of the lint filter light showing blinking and no fireup at when pressing the start button. They advised to try to unclip the plug(2 wires and then bridge across the plug with the dryer unplugged, then plug in and try to fire, but do not run long. If it fires then you have a bad thermostat sensor.

Well I tried that, and no dice. So I started thinking of bridging across other sensors in the front of the dryer are 2 sensors in the lint box area, those can be reached through the round front hole. . Ibridged one, and still no dice, didnt try the 2nd one, but a friend out of the blue suggested who knows, you could even have a bad belt tension switch. (or belt breakage safety switch.) Well, that was my next try and I bridged across the switch with the dryer unplugged and then plugged in and hit the start button and HEY!! That was it! Fired right up, so what had happened!?? I had removed the back off the drum, and loosened the belt and somehow the switch was "tripped"! It is a simple push button to reset continuity . You push in on the left side and it resets the safety switch. That certainly had nothing to do with the idiot light saying "Lint Filter!" So Im very relieved that Im operating again, however there is a slight bump or knock coming from the rear of the drum and Ive had it apart and cleaned it all, andthe felt looks good, so Im at a loss as to what that noise could be from, but it seems to be central to the drum support or center rear drum support bushing. Im ignoring it until it gets louder or worsens to the point it becomes obvious. Id appreciate any insight about that noise if anyone has any ideas!!!

SOmeday maybe this post will help another bosch owner do it yourselfer!

Happy new year! Keep thos appliances running!!! Marcus

Default Knocking sound

Funny, I am having a slightly different separate problem but I might be able to help with the knocking. My Bosch washer and dryer were installed before I bought my house and never used. The first time I attempted to use them they both acted possessed! Turns out the shipping bolts (called something like that) were never removed. These parts keep the drum from turning effectively. Once removed everything worked great.

My problem refers to the reset button...supposedly my heating element is no longer heating up because it needs to be reset. When I open up the back to reset it, there is a red button there that doesn't really let me 'press' it in. (it doesn't really move) Any thoughts?
