There are several possibilities. To narrow it down, I suggest the following:
1) Unplug the dryer.
2) Manually rotate the drum to confirm that the abnormal noise can be heard.
3) Open up the dryer and disconnect the belt from the motor pully so that the motor does not turn when the drum is rotated by hand.
4) Manually rotate the drum to see if you still hear the abnormal noise.
5) If the abnormal noise stops, then your belt, idler pulley, or motor bearings are likely bad.
6) If the abnormal noise continues, then the drum rollers, drum seals, or other drum related parts are likely bad.
Once you narrow it down this far, a closer inspection (visual or physical manipulation) of the individual possible culprits should indicate what part is causing the abnormal noise.
