The lights are on, there is power, when I select setting and press start I get a Buzz, but tumbler will not start. I took note from a previous post and examined the thermal fuse, removed it and local supplier says it is fine. Also, when I removed the front panel, I noted a defect from factory in that the vent housing was improperly aligned with exhaust tube and the tube had cut part of the plastic housing and was venting about 15-20% into bottom of dryer. After removing lots of lent, could find nothing else appearing out of order. Belts are fine, tumbler can advance by hand. Seems like no power getting to motor. Please help. Jim

It sounds to me like your motor is bad, if you had the thermal fuse tested, that sits on the right side of the heater housing, and has 2 wires coming to it. Try this to verify. You would need 2 people for this. Turn the timer to any dry cycle, and open the door to the dryer, and push the door button in, and at the same time, have someone hit the start switch, and keep the door button in, and grab the drum and turn it clockwise at the same time, and see if it kicks over. I can be reached at my web site at ApplianceEducator.com Tom

Kayakcrzy, Thank you for your help. Also, a local repair tech suggests that I should remove fan cover and check for foreign objects lodged there which could bind fan/Motor. Says he has found birds/other objects there. This FYI as I will proceed in replacing Motor once I locate one at reasonable price. Jim

Tom,
Thank you so much! Complete with a new motor from Point & Click (at a fair price & delivered in 2 days), The Maytag Dryer is humming like new. I did take note of a couple of items; 1-when I tightened the fan onto the new motor shaft, I found that the pully was loose on opposite end of shaft and needed to tighten same. 2- The Vent Pipe was misaligned with fan housing and approximately 20% of exhaust was going into bottom of dryer (from Factory). Again, much thanks, Jim

Great Job Jim. That misalignment of the vent housing is most likely the cause of the motor going out. Great discovery. Tom
