Kenmore gas dryer ~13 years old won't stop, unless I opened the door
Start switch is OK, I tested it with meter with disconnected wires.

Looking at the schematics on the back panel: looks like motor switch stuck in ON position constantly bypassing start switch.

So question: is it possible to replace just this motor switch or I have to replace complete motor assembly?
Any way to get this switch going again?

Any other ideas?

Dryer 110.97573200

Thanks

When you say won't stop do you mean both motor and heat.

I assume you are referring to the centrifugal switch. Normally one switch just disconnects the start winding of the motor and the other connects in the element/gas valves once the motor is up to speed.

If you open the door, let the drum come to a complete stop, then close the door does the drum/motor start again. If it does then the start/run section of the switch is running correctly

I would be more inclined to look at the timer. Sounds to me that you have one set of timer contacts that have welded together.

Yes, all these symptoms - drum starts again without pushing start switch.

But I was wrong: Start switch is BAD, not sure why it measured open first time, I took it out and found contact welded.
I opened it broke contact loose and put it back - dryer working again.
I will replace it tomorrow - contacts are in bad shape - local supply shop has it for $10

Thanks
