Talking Motor Runs, but tumbler does not tumble?
Brand: Maytag
Model Number: DE312
Age: More than 10 years

I have a Maytag DE312. I was drying a pair of heavy shoes when I noticed there was no more banging noise from the falling shoes, but the motor was still running. The motor will run but the tumbler does not move. I took the front off as well as the small back panel. The belt is not broken, but there is a lot of slack. I am wondering if the belt just streched, but it seems unlikely it would go from working fine to being that loose is such a short amount of time. I looked to see if the belt just fell off a roller, too. I can see nothing obvious, but I am looking for a schematic of the belt-roller-drum set up in this dryer. Anyone have one? Anyone willing to pull the back panel off their DE312 and taking a picture? Or perhaps I could email a picture of mine to someone?

Any insight will help.

Many thanks.
