Question Motor issues
Brand: Kenmore
Model Number: 110.97566200
Age: More than 10 years

The serial number on the dryer is ME3616738. The problem that i have is the dryer will run for a couple minutes and than stop the dryer has good heat. I removed the lower panel and observed while runing and the igniter glows and the flame comes on however the flame like a torch could the sensor to the left of the burner be heating up from the flame back flow? So i brought a new motor, belt, idle pulley and drum wheels. The dryer still runs for a while and cuts off go figure! Any help on what it could be would be great maybe a sensor or thermistat?: confused:

Here is what I want you to do. Turn the dryer on heat, and the ignitor will come on, and then the gas will come out, then it will cycle off, when it gets ready to come on does the ignitor come on, then you hear a click, and then the ignitor cuts off, and no gas?. If so you need to replace the coils on top of the gas valve. If you need me you can reach me at my website at ApplianceEducator.com Tom

You shouldn't be getting a "flame back flow" the flame should be drawing out the opposite end, always. If its not you have a restriction somewhere. Start right there at the flame and clean all the way out to the outside of the house where you're venting. The path of the hot air goes from the burner, into the back of the drum, out the lint filter and out the house. From what your describing it sounds like you have a restriction in this flow path somewhere. This could be causing your hi limit to be tripping and the problem and its something that needs to be done on a 10 year old + dryer no matter what, so no time lost doing it.

Just to not lead to any confusion, I wasn't trying to redirect Tom's diagnosis and advice, I was just wondering and commenting on what was meant by "flame back flow". In my mind when I read that it instantly brought a picture up of the flame coming back out the burner instead of being sucked up into it.

the flame isn't being blown back the other way it just isn't flowing the correct way
with the amount of suction i am comfortable with so a cleaning is definitely in order. As to tom's dino when i push the switch something clicks it runs the ignitor glows pause then flame on then couple min motor seems as if its being over laoded then click and it stops. where are those coils located and where can i get replacments tthanks

The coils are located on top of the gas valve. There is a kit, you can buy, instead of the whole valve. These good people here at part select can get you that kit. I would send you a picture, but I do not know how to on this site. If you go back to the front page of parts select and put in your model # you can see a picture of your gas valve. If you come to my web site, I could shoot you a picture. What ever is east to you. I can be reached at ApplianceEducator.com. Tom

I have no idea why this guy (kayakcrzy) keeps spamming this web site with efforts to get people away from here and to his site instead. There are plenty of people at this site capable of helping you. There is absolutely no information at this spammers web site, just forms to fill out your personal information. He has a web site but doesn't know how to post something as simple as a link?

If your motor is cutting out on you it has absolutely nothing in any way to do with the gas valve or coils. You've already replaced the motor and you're having the same problem, don't start putting more parts you don't need into this old dryer. The door switch and the timer could cause the motor to stop running, most likely just the door switch, it may even just be loose physicaly or internaly and when the dryer starts to run it vibrates enough to cause the switch to open.

Here is the part listing for all of your parts with pictures, no need to go to a spammers web site and give personal information for this...

Kenmore Parts for Models 110.97566200

partselect.com doesn't show your parts breakdown though, Sears does have it listed on their web site so you can look at where the parts or located if you need to...

You seem to have made this your forem for your own personal gain. the rest of us try to help folks to repair their own appliances, we are volunteers, this site is generously been provided by parts select, to help people. I and others like me do this for free. And we don't direct them to our own site. Think about it!!
