Default Is it the motor?
Brand: Whirlpool
Model Number: LTE6234AW2
Age: 5 - 10 years

I have a stackable washer/dryer set. I was wondering if the motor could be going bad, here is what it is doing: The dryer began its problems when it started sounding rough when you would first start it and now when you go to start it, it acts as though it has a hard time wanting to start. Once you get it started it sounds a little rough and it will only dry light clothing. The clothes will dry until it hits the cooling period then it stops,if you restart it from the beginning then it will run but usually shuts off before the cooling. At times you can't restart it at all, it will however start back up after a period of time. When I first took the dryer apart thinking it could be the belt I found major built up of lint so I cleaned it all off everything but it didnt' really seem to make a difference.

Although it is not shown in the schematic it sounds like thermal overload protector is tripping in the motor.

Turn the drum by hand, it should turn fairly easily. If not then you have a problem with the drum support re: a bearing, roller etc.

When you cleaned it did you do the entire unit. Including the blower.

Disconnect the dryer from the vent
Take a look inside for lint build up
Run a load with it disconnected
If you are worried about lint being blown all over. Take a pair of panty hose, put one leg into the other and attach this to the dryers exhaust. Give it some room so it can fill out, sort of like a wind sock.
If the dryer now runs OK your problem is in the vent system
