Default Maytag Performa wont start
Brand: Maytag
Model Number: pye2300ayw
Age: 5 - 10 years

Just curious if anyone can help. The dryer was started and left unattended, then an hour or so later the dyer wasn't running, but the clothes weren't dry either. No the dryer will not start. When you select the run cycle and press the button nothing happens. The only noise is the click of the switch.

I don't have an ohms meter, but have tried the door switch (by bypassing) without success. After hearing the story from my wife, I am leaning towards the thermal fuse or the like. I have never worked on a dryer, but the machine appears to be pretty simple.

Help please!!!!!!

First ck if breaker tripped in your fuse box. ck where your cord goes into back of dryer for 230 volts,(must have) my first guess with your norge(performa) the thermal near the heating element is bad, and won't power motor. You can test by unpluging dryer from the wall, remove the thermal wires, tape them together and plug back in and see if it starts,if so buy new thermal fuse. do not use the taped wires till you get new part Bettyboop
