Default Maytag performa dryer no heat
Brand: Maytag
Model Number: pye22ooayw
Age: 5 - 10 years

I have a maytag performa dryer #pye22ooayw. The dryer won't heat up and the settings dial doesn't advance as the cycle progresses. Any suggestions?

Note your Model Number uses zero's not o's

Here is your unit's parts breakdown with a wiring diagram
Maytag PYE2200AYW Parts List

Dryer runs but has no heat, is this correct?
Does the timer advance on timed dry cycle? Timer motor gets power by contacts TM/N for this cycle. Contacts TM/A used for most of the auto cycle.
Have you tried all temp settings?

First reset your breaker slowly a couple times. Sometimes you can loose 1/2 of the line without tripping the breaker. The motor and timer will run on 120 volts, only the heater needs 220 volts. Also timer in auto modes uses L2.

Possible part causes: motor centrifugal switch, heating element, safety thermostat, thermostat (cycling) heat selector switch, timer contacts (L/H)

Most likely the heater element or a thermostat is shot.

Best way to check 240 volts and components is with a volt/ohm meter.

Thanks for the quick reply'
Yes it runs, just no heat.
Timer does not advance.
Time does not advance on any setting.
I'll try the breaker and get back

Kind of a Oximoron Performa, when it ain't performing. Pop the top of the dryer, and make sure the dryer is unplugged, and ohm out the heater and the thermostat that sit on top of it. Providing you have the correct power, it will be 1 of the 2. If you need me you can reach me at my web site at ApplianceEducator.com Tom

Default MDE3500AYW No heat on Regular Cycle only

Dryer will not produce heat on the regular cycle. Everything works as usual except no heat. When using Timed Dry cycle and Perm Press dryer works as designed. Any ideas? I'm thinking problem lies with cycling thermostat.
