Default Maytag Performa Dryer - Drum is not spinning
Brand: Maytag
Model Number: PYET244AYW
Age: 1 - 4 years

The drum of my Maytag Performa Dryer stopped spinning this morning. The heater coils come on and heat is generated, but the drum itself does not sping. Does this indicate a type of belt problem? If so, how does one replace it? I managed to pop the top on the dryer, but I'm not sure how to get access to the rest of the unit.

Have you tried to grab the belt and lift it out with drum still in place.

I didn't realize the belt is wrapped around the entire drum. So if I open the top and don't see the belt, thats probably a pretty good indication that the belt has snapped. Thanks for the speedy response! Its much appreciated.

I also found these links that helped me diagnose the problem and start taking the top and the front of the dryer off (both of which are easy to do for a newbie like me!)
