Default Maytag Neptune tumbling but not heating
Brand: Maytag
Model Number: MDE5500AYW
Age: 5 - 10 years

Our dryer tumbles but does not dry ... the heating element does not come on. I get continuity on the heater thermal couple, hi lo switch and heater coil. I also have continuity on two of the three switches on the exhaust manifold under the tub. The thermostat does not have continuity but the parts manager at a local store indicated it should not. When the dryer is running, I get 110 on the coil. The outlet has 220. Any suggestions on what might be wrong?

Thanks

Is this in every cycle or in just one?

Your thermistor may be bad. Check ohms with a meter and refer to the service sheet supplied with the dryer.

Thanks for you reply. I had a tech come by the house last night ... turned out to be a burned terminal block and cord. I had checked the the outlet was providing 220 but failed to take the next step of checking the connection in the dryer. Tech said it happens but not often.
