We were drying (electric) a load of laundry when the dryer stopped in the middle of the dry cycle. When I try and start it, nothing happens. You can hear a noise like it's trying to start. Prior to this, the drum made a scraping type of noise while drying. Any ideas what could be wrong and how I can fix it? Thanks

could be a broken belt , burnt out motor???? when it was making the scraping noise what other sound were you waiting for it to make before you were going to get it looked at.
